Schengen visa guide

Ordinary Philippine passport holders generally need a Schengen visa to visit Spain. If you already have one, check that it covers Spain, your travel dates, the entries you need, and your remaining permitted days. Short visits are limited to 90 days in any 180-day period, or fewer if your visa specifies a shorter stay.

Where to apply

Apply through Spain if it is your main destination by purpose or length of stay. If no main destination can be determined and stays are equal, apply through your first Schengen country of entry.

Applicants living in the Philippines can book through BLS Spain Philippines, with centres in Manila and Cebu. If you live abroad, normally apply in your country of legal residence.

When to start

You can submit up to six months before travel, and at least 15 days beforehand. Apply as early as possible so you have time for appointments and any extra documents.

What to prepare

  • Application: A completed, signed form and a recent 35 × 45 mm photo with a white background.
  • Passport: Valid for at least three months after leaving Schengen, with two blank pages. Include previous passports and the copies requested by BLS.
  • Trip details: A cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip, travel dates, companions, and day-by-day itinerary.
  • Reservations: Return-flight reservations and confirmed accommodation for every night of your Schengen trip.
  • Finances: A bank certificate, at least six months of account movements, and the applicable tax documents.
  • Work or business: Employment and leave documents, or business registration and financial documents if self-employed.
  • Insurance: At least €30,000 of travel medical cover, valid throughout Schengen for your whole stay, including emergency care and repatriation.
  • Civil documents: Your birth certificate and, if married, marriage certificate, plus any other documents required for your circumstances.
